The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Svetlan Stoev, today received at the Foreign Ministry representatives of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). The occasion for the talks was the forthcoming early elections for Members of the Bulgarian Parliament and Members of the European Parliament on 9 June.

Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev accepted the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs from Stefan Dimitrov. Glavchev also held a working meeting with the senior staff of the Foreign Ministry at the Foreign Ministry building. I count on your professionalism in the daily work, the prime minister said and highlighted the holding of fair elections as the top priority of the caretaker cabinet. For the first time, our Foreign Ministry will hold two elections in one - for the national and European Parliament, which is an additional prerequisite for serious mobilisation.

An EU Foreign Affairs Council is held in Luxembourg

The ordinary monthly meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council started today with a joint session with the defence ministers of the member states. Bulgaria was represented by Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov and the country's Permanent Representative to the EU, Ambassador Rumen Alexandrov. The foreign and defence ministers discussed military support to Ukraine, with their Ukrainian counterparts Dmytro Kuleba and Rustem Umerov joining the discussion via video link.
