Republic of Slovenia

Bulgarian-Slovenian diplomatic relations were established in 1992, and the Embassy of Republic of Bulgaria in Ljubljana was opened in 1993. Slovenia opened its Embassy in Sofia on October 24, 2018.

Bilateral relations with the Republic of Slovenia are excellent, with no open issues. They are characterised by regular political dialogue and deepening sectoral cooperation. The successful development of our bilateral relations is conditioned by the similar objectives set by our membership in the EU and NATO, as well as by the common commitments to support the European integration of the countries of the Western Balkans and to ensure security and prosperity in the region.

The two countries have excellent bilateral cooperation in the field of public order and crime prevention, as well as the protection of the external Schengen borders.

We encourage the strengthening of bilateral economic cooperation. The restoration of the Trade and Economic Affairs Office of Republic of Bulgaria in Ljubljana is a testament to the importance that Bulgaria attaches to their further fruitful development.
