Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev Holds Talks with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Georg Georgiev, held talks with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The two met during a transatlantic dinner organised by the U.S. State Department, attended by foreign ministers from NATO member states and partner countries.
Georgiev and Rubio discussed key issues relating to Black Sea regional security, Europe’s energy resilience, and strengthening transatlantic ties. During their conversation, they reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to continuing the strategic dialogue and deepening cooperation in support of security, prosperity, and democratic values.
Emphasis was also placed on the joint efforts to support Ukraine and the need to maintain unity within NATO and the European Union in the context of the ongoing aggression by the Russian Federation.
Minister Georgiev expressed gratitude for the United States’ consistent support for the stability and democratic development of South-East Europe and underlined the strategic importance of the Bulgarian-American partnership.
In turn, Secretary of State Rubio congratulated Bulgaria on its active role within NATO and its contribution to regional security.
The two officials agreed that bilateral relations between the U.S. and Bulgaria will continue to progress positively, across security, energy, economic, and technological spheres.
