On 30 September 2025, the first round of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman was held in Muscat.
The Bulgarian delegation was headed by Mrs. Maria Angelieva, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, while the Omani delegation was led by Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Undersecretary for Political Affairs.
During the consultations, the two sides reviewed the steps undertaken to strengthen bilateral cooperation in specific sectors of mutual interest, identified during the historic visit to Bulgaria of H.E. Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman.
The Bulgarian side confirmed its interest in opening an embassy in the Sultanate of Oman, considering this a key prerequisite for the comprehensive deepening of bilateral relations.
In particular, opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment, education, tourism, culture, and other areas were addressed.
The two sides also discussed issues of mutual concern in light of recent international and regional developments.
