EU ambassadors reached preliminary agreement on the draft decision for the lifting of checks on persons at internal land borders with and between the Republic of Bulgaria and Romania

COREPER II reached today preliminary agreement on the draft Council decision regarding the full accession of Bulgaria and Romania to the Schengen Area by January 1st 2025, including land borders. The Decision is expected to be finally adopted at the meeting of the EU Council "Justice and Home Affairs" (in the format of Home Affairs Ministers), which will take place in Brussels on 12 December 2024.
