Ambassador Petko Draganov Awarded the Highest Honour by the President of the Re-public of Korea

On March 27, 2025, during a ceremony held at the residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Bulgaria, H.E. Dong-be Kim conferred upon Ambassador Petko Draganov the highest honour awarded by the President of the Republic of Korea – the Gwanghwa Medal, First Class – in recognition of his outstanding service in diplomacy and his contribution to the development of bilateral relations.

Political Consultations Between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria and France

On March 27, 2025, bilateral political consultations were held in Sofia between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic. On the Bulgarian side, the consultations were led by the Director General of the European Affairs Directorate, Yordan Parvanov, while the French delegation was headed by the Director of the European Union Directorate, Vincent Guerain.

Bulgaria's support for Egypt's candidacy for UNESCO Director-General

The Republic of Bulgaria has endorsed the candidacy of Professor Khaled El-Enany for the post of Director-General of UNESCO in the elections scheduled to take place in November 2025. The Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Georg Georgiev, conveyed Bulgaria's support in an official letter to Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptians Abroad. The letter was presented by Ms Maria Angelieva, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, during political consultations held in Cairo on 22nd April 2025. On March 25, 2025, a regular meeting of the Interdepartmental Coordination Mechanism for Bulgaria's accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, chaired by Deputy Minister Maria Angelieva. The participants in the meeting reviewed the progress achieved within the accession process. The outcomes of completed technical reviews and missions were discussed, alsong with preparations for upcoming technical assessments in the months ahead.

"Bulgaria condemns in the strongest terms any attack against humanitarian missions, diplomatic personnel, and UN staff." This was stated to journalists by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Georg Georgiev, during his visit in Veliko Tarnovo on the occasion of the city's holiday. "I take this opportunity once again to express my condolences to the relatives of our deceased compatriot. From this point onward, we expect an investigation to be conducted.

The International Day of Francophonie was celebrated at the National Archaeological Museum with a concert by the Bulgarian-French trio "Orenda"

"Francophonie is a universe of languages, cultures, traditions and human connections. This is its greatest charm and attraction." With these words, Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev addressed the attendees at the opening of the concert organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and performed by the Bulgarian-French trio "Orenda", in celebration of the International Day of Francophonie – 20 March. Georg Georgiev recalled that the French language has traditionally been the language of culture, arts, fashion, education, science and diplomacy.
