Ambassador Petko Draganov Awarded the Highest Honour by the President of the Re-public of Korea

On March 27, 2025, during a ceremony held at the residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Bulgaria, H.E. Dong-be Kim conferred upon Ambassador Petko Draganov the highest honour awarded by the President of the Republic of Korea – the Gwanghwa Medal, First Class – in recognition of his outstanding service in diplomacy and his contribution to the development of bilateral relations.
The distinction marks the conclusion of his term as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Korea (in the period 2019 - 2023), and affirms the traditional relations of friendship and mutual respect between the two countries. In his address, H.E. Dong-be Kim expressed gratitude for Ambassador Draganov’s contribution to advancing and strengthening of political dialogue and bilateral ties through the establishment of new partnerships among representatives of the business community and the enhancement of cooperation in the fields of culture, education, and people-to-people exchanges. Words of welcome on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also offered by Ms. Genka Georgieva, Director General of Global Affairs, who in turn highlighted the long-standing contribution of Ambassador Draganov to the Bulgarian diplomatic service.
The Republic of Korea is a key partner of our country in the dynamic region of Northeast Asia. Bilateral relations are a priority and are characterised by friendship, shared values, and closely aligned positions and interests. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
