Georg Georgiev to the Ambassadors of the Arab States in Sofia: The Holy Muslim Month of Ramadan Reminds Us of the Importance of Dialogue, Cooperation and Shared Responsibility in Building a More Peaceful and Prosperous World

"It is an honour to hold this first meeting with you during the holy month of Ramadan - a time of reflection, generosity and unity; a time when we reaffirm the values of compassion, mutual respect, and solidarity; a time that reminds us of the value of dialogue, cooperation and shared responsibility in building a more peaceful and prosperous world." With these words, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev addressed the ambassadors of the Arab states accredited in Sofia at the beginning of the solemn iftar dinner, which he hosted in their honour.
"For years, our nations have built lasting relationships founded on respect, trust and cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, energy, education and cultural exchange. These ties serve as an example of how traditional values can be passed on as a model of peaceful coexistence," Georgiev stated, emphasising our country’s ongoing commitment to strengthening economic relations, promoting diplomatic dialogue and jointly addressing urgent global challenges in partnership with Arab partners.
The Bulgarian top diplomat further highlighted that against the backdrop of escalating tensions in the Middle East – and the immense human toll and widespread destruction in Gaza, Sudan, Yemen, Syria, and Lebanon – the advancement of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza is of critical importance. This is not only essential for the protection of civilians and the release of hostages, but also for ensuring regional stability. "A just and lasting peace can only be achieved through renewed negotiations, supported by the international community. We support the Arab plan for the reconstruction of Gaza and initiatives such as the Global Coalition for a Two-State Solution, which seek a fair and secure future for all," Georgiev stressed.
