On March 27, 2025, bilateral political consultations were held in Sofia between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic.
On the Bulgarian side, the consultations were led by the Director General of the European Affairs Directorate, Yordan Parvanov, while the French delegation was headed by the Director of the European Union Directorate, Vincent Guerain.
The two sides reviewed the state of bilateral relations across a range of areas, including the economy, energy, defence, transport, and more. Special emphasis was placed on the forthcoming Roadmap to the Strategic Partnership Agreement between Bulgaria and France, which is expected to be signed in the near future.
The consultations also covered current issues on the European Union agenda, as well as broader geopolitical matters — including the war in Ukraine, security in the Black Sea region, EU strategic autonomy, and the Union’s enlargement policy.
