The Republic of North Macedonia has notified the UN member states and the countries with observer status in the world organization of its new constitutional name. It becomes effective automatically as a result of the signing and ratification of the Prespa Accord

Minister Zaharieva: Bulgaria works persistently for the implementation of the Sofia Declaration regarding the Western Balkans.

Bulgaria, together with the other European Union Member States, has been working persistently for the implementation of activities envisioned in the annex to the Sofia Declaration adopted at the EU-Wester Balkans Summit. This is what Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva said during Question Time in Parliament in reply to a question from Kristian Vigenin MP (from the Parliamentary Group "BSP for Bulgaria").

Minister Zaharieva: Bulgarian visas to be issued in 15 Chinese cities

Bulgarian visas can in the very near future be obtained in 15 cities across China, announced Ekaterina Zaharieva, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs at a meeting with Lachezar Dinev, President of the Bulgarian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCCI). Currently, Bulgarian visas are only issued in the capital Beijing and in Shanghai.

Protocol of Republic of Macedonia accession to North Atlantic Treaty signed

On February 6, 2019, at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels, representatives of the Member States of the Alliance signed a protocol to the North Atlantic Treaty on the accession of the Republic of Macedonia to NATO under the name ‘Republic of North Macedonia’. The Foreign Minister of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Nikola Dimitrov, was in attendance at the signing ceremony.

Bulgaria strengthens cooperation with Jordan in the fight against terrorism and human trafficking

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva met in Brussels today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. In continuation of their talks in Amman in mid-December 2018, the two top diplomats discussed opportunities for re-invigorating the bilateral relations and the specific steps that can be undertaken to that end. The ministers also exchanged views on current developments in the region of the Middle East.

The fifth meeting of the foreign ministers of the EU and the League of Arab States (LAS) took place in Brussels today. The Bulgarian delegation was headed by Ekaterina Zaharieva, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. The meeting was co-chaired for the EU by the High Representative, Federica Mogherini, and for the LAS, by M.A. Al-Dirdiri, the Foreign Minister of the Sudan, and Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary General of the League of Arab States.
