EU Council takes political decision to impose sanctions on specific individuals for human rights violations in Russia

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva is taking part in the regular meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council held in Brussels today. The EU's relations with Russia were high on the agenda. Ministers held their first discussion with the new US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken. The situation in a number of hotspots around the world was also discussed: Belarus, Myanmar, Hong Kong, the Sahel, Iran, Ethiopia and Sudan.

Political consultations between Bulgaria and Iran

Development of bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Iran was discussed in the framework of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria and Iran. They were held between the Deputy Ministers of the two countries, Georg Georgiev and Dr. Abbas Aragchi. The regular Bulgarian-Iranian political dialogue is regulated by the 1994 Protocol on Cooperation.
