The Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls for restraint in announcing the circumstances of the evacuation of our compatriots from Afghanistan

20 August 2021 News

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not stopped working actively in the last few days for the removal of Bulgarian citizens from Afghanistan, and their evacuation is a task of first priority.

In the conditions of a constantly changing,  complex and uncertain situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is informing in timely fashion the Bulgarian society about the course of the evacuation, in strict observance of the security of the affected citizens.

As the evacuation process is not yet over, we urge the media representatives, as well as citizens, to refrain from disclosing details about the circumstances of the removal of Bulgarian citizens from Afghanistan, which could jeopardize the security of our compatriots who have already been removed, as well as those who are about to be evacuated and the partners who are providing us with assistance.

As we announced earlier, 14 Bulgarian citizens have been removed from Kabul so far, and four are in a safe place and will be evacuated in the coming hours. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in constant contact with our compatriots and is assisting in their removal from the country and their further movement to Bulgaria.
