Egypt Travel Warning

In connection with the complicated situation in the area of North Sinai and the demonstrations held in various parts of the country, the MFA recommends to Bulgarian citizens to refrain to the maximum from any movement in Cairo and other major administrative centers on 11 October this year.

No Bulgarians injured in the crash between a passenger train and a bus in Ottawa

According to the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Ottawa, six people including the bus driver died in the tragic accident between a passanger train and a city bus on September 18, 2013. 31 are injured, of which 11 in serious condition.

Warning that there are mosquitoes infected with the West Nile virus in Serbia

The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry warns citizens traveling to Serbia for fishing or hiking along the rivers and dams that, according to the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Nis, Serbia’s Institute for Biocides and Medical Ecologyhas warned of the presence of mosquitoes infected with the West Nile virus.

Recommendation to refrain from any travel to Egypt

On August 14 2013, the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt announced the introduction of a State of Emergency for a period of one month. In this connection, a daily curfew between 7pm and 6am has been introduced in 14 provinces as follows: Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Suez, Ismailia, Asiut, Sohag, Beni Suef, Minya, Beheyra, South Sinai and North Sinai, Suez and Qena. The curfew is in force for the duration of the emergency.

Bulgarian bus accident in southern France

A Bulgarian bus travelling on a regular route from Spain to Bulgaria caught fire in the region of the city of Nice in southern France on July 29. No one died or was injured. The luggage was saved from the baggage compartment but computers, money and documents were destroyed by the fire. The 51 passengers who had been travelling in the bus were accommodated in a shelter.
