Strikes in Greece on 6 November 2013

According to information from the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Athens, 24 -hour nationwide strike, organized by the two largest unions: The General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE)and The Civil Servants' Confederation (ADEDY) will be held on 6 November in Greece. Their intentions to join the strike have declared The GreekFederation of State School Teachers of Secondary Education(OLME) and The Panhellenic Seamen's Federation (PNO). A blockage of all ports in Greece is expected.

Strikes have been announced in support of both the workers and the unemployed. There are plans for holding a rally in central Athens, which is expected to hamper the movement and the normal daily routine.

MFA recommends that the Bulgarian citizens planning to travel to Greece or residing temporarily or permanently in the country at the time of the announced strike, possibly to avoid the central parts of the Greek capital and other areas with a greater concentration of protesters. Also, travelers in this period should avoid the use of maritime transport on the day of the strike and are advised to organize their trip before or after November 6.
