‘The bilateral political dialog between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is becoming ever more dynamic. Exactly a year ago I had the pleasure of welcoming you to Sofia for a meeting that provided an impetus for a multitude of exchanged visits between members of various government ministries, agencies and economic entities.’ Those were the words of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva, who spoke in Brussels today with Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Bulgaria strengthens cooperation with Jordan in the fight against terrorism and human trafficking

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva met in Brussels today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. In continuation of their talks in Amman in mid-December 2018, the two top diplomats discussed opportunities for re-invigorating the bilateral relations and the specific steps that can be undertaken to that end. The ministers also exchanged views on current developments in the region of the Middle East.

The fifth meeting of the foreign ministers of the EU and the League of Arab States (LAS) took place in Brussels today. The Bulgarian delegation was headed by Ekaterina Zaharieva, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. The meeting was co-chaired for the EU by the High Representative, Federica Mogherini, and for the LAS, by M.A. Al-Dirdiri, the Foreign Minister of the Sudan, and Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary General of the League of Arab States.

Ekaterina Zaharieva in Bucharest: I am happy the Romanian Presidency followed Bulgaria’s example in focusing on the Western Balkans

The Deputy Prime Minister for Judicial Reform and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mrs. Ekaterina Zaharieva took part in the Informal Meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers from the Member States of the European Union (Gymnich) in Bucharest on January 31 – February 1, 2019. Among the matters discussed at it were the Western Balkans, the Eastern Partnership, Venezuela and China. The discussion on China continued in the format of EU Member States and Candidate Members.

The Government has approved the draft Protocol to the North Atlantic Treaty on the accession of the Republic of Macedonia to NATO. By force of the same resolution, the Council of Ministers has authorized the chargé d'affaires ad interim of the Bulgarian Delegation to NATO to sign the protocol of accession.
