Ekaterina Zaharieva: Bulgaria in Eurozone to boost investor confidence
‘Bulgaria’s joining the Eurozone will boost investor confidence and will help increase investments in this country. It’s not accidental that this is one of the key priorities of the government, which in August 2018 drew up a clear plan that hopefully will secure in June of this year a positive response for our application to join the so-called ‘waiting room’, or ERM II mechanism.’ These is what Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva said at the traditional annual meeting of the Bulgarian Business Leaders’ Forum (BBLF) with ambassadors.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva had two meetings in Washington DC with US legislators. She met and spoke with Ron Johnson, Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Europe and Regional Security Cooperation within the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, as well as with Michael McCaul, the ranking Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva had a meeting in Washington with the special assistant to President Trump and Director of the Office of Trade and Industry, Dr. Peter Navarro. The key point of the meeting was the active bilateral dialog and the excellent strategic partnership between the two countries, as well as the priority issues on the bilateral agenda between Bulgaria and the US.

Bulgaria to provide BGN 3.5 million in aid to Western Balkans and Eastern Partnership countries
Bulgaria will provide financial assistance to 9 countries in the Western Balkans and the Eastern Partnership by providing BGN 3,485,028 in grants for the implementation of projects aimed at the development of education, science, culture, social integration and the civil society.

Celebrating ASEM Day-2019 in Bulgaria
On 13 March 2019 a joint event of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria and Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” entitled "ASEM Day-2019: Strengthening connectivity between Europe and Asia by promoting people-to-people contacts and education exchange" was held at Sofia University to mark ASEM Day-2019. The ASEF Photo Exhibition "On the Go" was also presented during the event.
