Post-Brexit, Rights of Citizens Paramount for Bulgaria
07 October 2020 News
For Bulgaria, the rights of citizens post-Brexit are paramount, the country highlighting the importance of the implementation of the EU-UK Withdrawal Agreement. This is the position to be held by Bulgaria at the session of the General Affairs Council (GAC) in Luxembourg on October 13. Today the Council of Ministers endorsed the text.
The position puts forth the priorities of Bulgaria vis-à-vis the future EU-UK relations: mobility, including visa-free trips for short-term visits on reciprocal basis as well as non-discrimination and guarantees for a broad scope of agreed arrangements in social security. Other priorities include transport connectivity, cooperation in domestic security, recognition of professional qualifications and favourable conditions for e-commerce.
In addition to the EU-UK relations, the GAC will also discuss the annual Rule of Law Report of the EC and the preparation for the upcoming European Council on October 15-16, 2020.
