On the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the State of Libya, Taher Al-Baour. Minister Kondov informed his counterpart that Bulgaria regards the State of Libya as a traditional and long-standing partner in the North African region, with a serious potential for expanding mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation.

A regular meeting of the EU General Affairs Council is held in Brussels

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Shekerletova today represented Bulgaria at the regular meeting of the EU General Affairs Council, which took place in the Belgian capital. At the beginning of the meeting, the Hungarian presidency presented its priorities, after which the Council discussed the preparations for the regular October European Council meeting and held a discussion on the state of the rule of law in the Union as well as in 4 candidate countries from the Western Balkans.

The day before the opening of the General Debate of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, the EU foreign ministers held their traditional meeting to coordinate positions on the leading topics on the agenda. The meeting took place at the Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations in New York. The main topics of the discussions were the Russian aggression against Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East. The first diplomats of the EU countries also had a meeting with the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha.
