Minister Ivan Kondov inaugurated the new building of the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Munich

On the eve of Bulgaria's Independence Day, the new building of the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Munich was inaugurated.
On 21 September 2024, in the presence of over 100 guests from the Bulgarian diaspora, as well as representatives of the consular corps in Munich, the business community and the Bavarian administration, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Ivan Kondov, together with the newly appointed Consul General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Munich, Mr. Stefan Yonkov, inaugurated the new building of our Consulate General in Munich, with the consular district of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. The building was consecrated by the representative of the Bulgarian Church, the priest-monk Nedyalko Kalinov. The guests viewed with interest the art-photo exhibition of Bulgarian landmarks presented in the consulate and celebrated the opening of the new building with a glass of Bulgarian wine and native delicacies, Bavarian beer and friendly conversations at the cocktail organized with the help of patriotic sponsors.
Located in a 650 square meter modern building in a central area of the Bavarian capital, the consulate will significantly improve the quality of service for the more than 130,000 Bulgarian citizens in the two federal states. The consular office now has 3 equipped biometric counters for the service of citizens, a room for interviews, as well as a comfortable waiting room for citizens. The new conference hall, equipped with modern technical means, is designed for meetings and forums in the field of bilateral relations, economy, culture, education.
The first meeting on the opening day of the new building of the Consulate General was with representatives of the leaders of the Bulgarian Sunday schools in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. Current developments and challenges were discussed. Minister Ivan Kondov assured the audience that Bulgarian schools are a priority for both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, given their important role in connecting and preserving knowledge and affection for the Bulgarian language, culture, traditions and Bulgarian identity. On the initiative of the Consul General, each of the Bulgarian schools received guitars from the Bulgarian manufacturer of string instruments Cremona – Kazanlak, as well as patriotic boards and portraits of prominent Bulgarian personalities, writers, revolutionaries from the Prosveta publishing house. The initiative of the publishing house Klett-Bulgaria for online training and additional qualifications of the teaching staff of our Sunday schools abroad was also announced, starting from those in Germany.
