Message from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
In connection with media inquiries received by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the two Bulgarian citizens on board the ship Galaxy Leader, which was hijacked yesterday in the Red Sea near Yemen, we inform that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working on clarifying all the circumstances of the case in close coordination with the Bulgarian diplomatic missions in the region and with partner institutions.

‘Due to the coordinated efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the diplomatic missions of our country in Cairo, Ramallah and Tel Aviv and the Situation Centre Directorate, the evacuation of another 9 Bulgarian citizens and their family members from Gaza has been successfully completed and they are now safe in Cairo,’ the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariya Gabriel reported.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Serbia in Sofia, Željko Jović, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today by the Director General for European Affairs, Yordan Parvanov. The occasion was the refusal of the Serbian border authorities to allow the prominent Bulgarian intellectual and public figure Edvin Sugarev to enter the territory of Serbia on 8 November 2023, as well as the confiscation of his books by the local law enforcement authorities from the Bulgarian Cultural Information Centre in Bosilegrad.
