Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev: EU Enlargement Is a Natural Priority for All of Us

Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev took part in a working breakfast of the Foreign Ministers in a quadrilateral format (B4) – Bulgaria, Greece, Romania and Croatia, held during High-Level Week and the General Debate of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. The four top diplomats of the EU’s Balkan Member States reviewed the European integration of their six neighbours that are still outside the Union, and discussed connectivity and military mobility in the region.

Mr Andrii Sybiha, and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Ms Kaja Kallas, ahead of the special briefing of the UN Security Council on Ukraine, held during the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. Foreign Minister Georgiev Meets with His Georgian Counterpart Maka Bochorishvili

Bulgaria and Georgia share a long history of traditionally excellent relations, close friendship and fruitful cooperation between our countries and our peoples,” stated Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev to Georgia’s top diplomat, Ms Maka Bochorishvili. The two met today in New York during the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. Minister Georgiev expressed disappointment with the decision of the Georgian authorities to suspend the country’s EU membership negotiations until 2028, particularly in view of the strong support among the Georgian public for accession to the Union.

Georg Georgiev: Bulgaria Values Its Relations with Mongolia, Based on Long-standing Traditions of Friendship and Cooperation

Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev held a meeting with Mongolian Foreign Minister Ms Battsetseg Batmunkh in New York, as part of his participation in the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. During the discussions, the two sides reviewed the long-standing partnership between Bulgaria and Mongolia and explored opportunities to further deepen bilateral cooperation in a number of priority fields. “Bulgaria values its relations with Mongolia, built on enduring traditions of friendship and cooperation,” Minister Georgiev emphasised.

In response to media inquiries about the detention of a Bulgarian national on the territory of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria issues the following statement: Mr Lyubomir Kirov holds both Bulgarian and Ukrainian citizenship. Under the current legislation of Ukraine, persons with Ukrainian citizenship incur certain obligations while on Ukrainian territory, including obligations arising from mobilisation.
