Deputy Minister Christo Polendakov Meets Ethiopian Ambassador Adem Mohamed Mahmud

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Christo Polendakov received H.E. Adem Mohamed Mahmud, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Republic of Bulgaria, resident in Ankara, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting took place in connection with the forthcoming conclusion of Ambassador Mahmud's mandate in 2026 and the 70th anniversary this year of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Ethiopia. Deputy Minister Polendakov expressed his appreciation for the Ambassador's active work and valuable contribution to the development of bilateral relations.

The two sides discussed opportunities to further strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including political dialogue, trade and economic relations, and security. Ambassador Mahmud provided an update on efforts to maintain stability in the Horn of Africa amid growing regional tensions.

The discussion also covered the future prospects for Bulgaria's diplomatic mission in Ethiopia. The two sides agreed to continue their active dialogue and to work jointly on initiatives of mutual interest with a view to further developing the bilateral partnership.
