Vietnam Looking for Bulgarian Expertise in High Tech, Green Energy and Bio-farming
The Socialist Republic of Vietnam is open to Bulgarian investment and to receiving expertise in the spheres of high tech, renewable energy sources and bio-farming, but also in traditional sectors like silk culture and winery. This emerged following a meeting of the Deputy Prime Ministers and Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two countries, Ekaterina Zaharieva and Pham Binh Minh, in Sofia.

Ekaterina Zaharieva: The Bulgarian Presidency Has Turned one of its National Priorities into a European one
Minister Zaharieva pointed out that at the very outset of its Presidency Bulgaria had had to work through a number of challenges and times of crisis, some of which the EU encountered for the first time on its history, as well as the new trans-Atlantic relations between the EU and the USA, which are traditional partners, Brexit, the procedure launched against Poland on the rule of law, the need for a solution to the matter of migration, drafting joint projects in the sphere of security, and the European Defence Facility.

Minister Zaharieva: We Have Managed to Reconcile our Differences with Politicians in the Republic of Macedonia, and Our Historians Should Do the Same
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva welcomed the members of the joint scientific committee of the Republics of Bulgaria and Republic of Macedonia which held its first meeting today in Sofia. The joint multidisciplinary committee comprising experts in the fields of history and education was set up pursuant to the Amity, Good-neighbourliness and Cooperation Agreement concluded between the two countries.

UNICEF’s Representative to Bulgaria Hands in her Letters of Accreditation
Today, the newly appointed UNICEF Representative to Bulgaria, Dr Jane Muita, handed in her letters of accreditation to Deputy Minister Yuri Sterk at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Dr Muita succeeds Maria Jesus Conde, whose three-year term ended in June.

Ekaterina Zaharieva and her German Counterpart Heiko Maas: A Solution for Migration Can Only Be Found at the Level of the EU
Bulgaria’s highest-ranking diplomat reminded that there was no migratory pressure at the country’s border. She noted the points that were key to finding a solution in Bulgaria’s view: closing the EU’s external borders, extending the agreement with Turkey, providing centres outside of Europe, and the quick return of illegal migrants.
