Bulgaria supports the European future of the Western Balkans
“I would like to say quite clearly that Bulgaria supports the European future of the Western Balkans. This support of ours found expression during the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU when the European perspective of the region was a key priority”, said Ambassador Dimitar Tsanchev, the Bulgarian Permanent Representative of the European Union, who represents Bulgaria at today’s regular meeting of the “General Affairs” Council.

Ekaterina Zaharieva: Stop the disinformation campaigns from the Western Balkans against EU states
“Starting EU accession negotiations taken alone is not enough to consolidate the geopolitical orientation of the Western Balkans. It is necessary the countries from the region to comply with the EU criteria and to implement effectively the required reforms including to stop funding disinformation campaigns against member states,” said Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva during today’s meeting of the “Foreign Affairs” Council in Brussels between the foreign ministers.

Our colleague Milen Lyubenov has passed away
With deep regret we inform you that today, following a serious illness, suddenly passed away one of our youngest colleagues – Milen Lyubenov, head of Department “Regional Cooperation” in Directorate “Southeast Europe”. In just a few weeks he was about to leave on a new diplomatic mission as Deputy Head of the Embassy of Bulgaria in Athens, Greece.

Bulgaria declared another Russian diplomat as persona non grata
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria declared yet another Russian diplomat as persona non grata and asked the law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation to fully assist the Bulgarian authorities in investigating the explosions in Bulgarian arms depots, the destruction of material evidence in a fire and the poisoning of three Bulgarian citizens in order to discover the offenders and bring them to court.

The government approved the purchase of a building in Bitola for the needs of our Consulate General
The Council of Ministers adopted a decision to purchase part of a building for the needs of the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in the town of Bitola, Republic of North Macedonia. The value of the property is BGN 729 330.
The accessibility for our fellow countrymen and the citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia will be made easier by preserving the address of our Consulate General.
