The government has empowered Ambassador Hristo Polendakov to represent Bulgaria in the Danube Commission

The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria adopted a Decision to empower Hristo Polendakov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria in Hungary, to represent the Republic of Bulgaria in the Danube Commission.

The Danube Commission is an international organization established by the Convention regarding the regime of navigation on the Danube signed in Belgrade on 18 August 1948. The Commission has its seat at Budapest. Among the main activities of the Commission are to provide and develop free navigation on the Danube, to make recommendations to the Danube countries for its improvement, to establish a unified navigation and regulation system along the navigable part of the river, to unify the rules of river supervision.

Bulgaria is member of the Danube Commission ever since its establishment. According to the established practice, the ambassadors of the Member States who are accredited to Hungary represent the respective countries in the Danube Commission as well.
