Participation of Deputy Minister Elena Shekerletova in the 5th Vienna Forum for Countering Segregation and Extremism in the Context of Integration

On 2 December 2025 in Vienna, Austria, Deputy Minister Elena Shekerletova took part in the 5th Vienna Forum for Countering Segregation and Extremism in the Context of Integration. This year’s edition of the Vienna Forum was dedicated to strengthening European cooperation in countering extremism, foreign influence and online radicalisation. The event is held in the context of the implementation of the EU Internal Security Strategy, presented by the European Commission on 1 April 2025, and the broader effort to reinforce European resilience.

During the Conference, Bulgaria was elected to serve on the organisation’s main governing body – the Industrial Development Board (IDB). 40 Bulgarian Nationals Temporarily Stranded in Sri Lanka as a Result of Flooding. All Are in Good Condition

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received reports of difficulties in establishing contact with a group travelling on an organised tour in an area partially affected by the disaster. Disrupted infrastructure in the country is complicating communication; however, according to information from the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Bulgaria in Sri Lanka and from the tour operator, all Bulgarian nationals are safe, accommodated in a hotel, and provided with food and water.

25 November – International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls

On 25 November, we mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls. According to data from UN Women, one in every three women globally has experienced an act of violence at least once in her lifetime. Research shows that women have also frequently been subjected to online violence, the most widespread forms being the dissemination of false information and defamation. These figures clearly underscore the need for sustained and coordinated efforts to combat violence – both at the national and international levels.
