Participation of Deputy Minister Elena Shekerletova in the 5th Vienna Forum for Countering Segregation and Extremism in the Context of Integration
On 2 December 2025 in Vienna, Austria, Deputy Minister Elena Shekerletova took part in the 5th Vienna Forum for Countering Segregation and Extremism in the Context of Integration. This year’s edition of the Vienna Forum was dedicated to strengthening European cooperation in countering extremism, foreign influence and online radicalisation. The event is held in the context of the implementation of the EU Internal Security Strategy, presented by the European Commission on 1 April 2025, and the broader effort to reinforce European resilience.

Bulgaria Elected to the Industrial Development Board of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) at the General Conference in Riyadh, 23–27 November 2025
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Nikolay Pavlov represented Bulgaria at the 21st session of the General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), held in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from 23 to 27 November 2025. During the Conference, Bulgaria was elected to serve on the organisation’s main governing body – the Industrial Development Board (IDB). Bulgaria’s Permanent Representative to the international organisations in Vienna, Ambassador Mr Ivan Gospodinov, was elected Vice-President of the General Conference, whose presiding officer is the Minister

40 Bulgarian Nationals Temporarily Stranded in Sri Lanka as a Result of Flooding. All Are in Good Condition
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received reports of difficulties in establishing contact with a group travelling on an organised tour in an area partially affected by the disaster.
Disrupted infrastructure in the country is complicating communication; however, according to information from the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Bulgaria in Sri Lanka and from the tour operator, all Bulgarian nationals are safe, accommodated in a hotel, and provided with food and water.

The meeting, hosted at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Sofia, was organised within the framework of Denmark’s current Presidency of the Council of the EU.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Georg Georgiev, took part in the informal videoconference of EU Foreign Ministers held on 26 November 2025, dedicated to Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine. At the start of the meeting, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha reported on the progress of the negotiations on the US peace plan, outlined the next steps and thanked the EU and the Member States for their support.

Bulgaria Joins the European Centre of Excellence for Civilian Crisis Management
On 25 November 2025, Deputy Minister Elena Shekerletova held a meeting with Johanna Sumuvuori, Director of the European Centre of Excellence for Civilian Crisis Management in Berlin. During the meeting, Deputy Minister Shekerletova presented the original of a letter, on behalf of Minister Georg Georgiev and Minister Daniel Mitov, confirming the accession of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Centre.

A Bulgarian delegation took part in the 46th Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie, held on 19 and 20 November in the city of Kigali, Rwanda. The ministers and heads of delegations of the Member States adopted the “Kigali Appeal for Accelerating Progress on Gender Equality in the French – Speaking World.”

25 November – International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls
On 25 November, we mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls. According to data from UN Women, one in every three women globally has experienced an act of violence at least once in her lifetime. Research shows that women have also frequently been subjected to online violence, the most widespread forms being the dissemination of false information and defamation. These figures clearly underscore the need for sustained and coordinated efforts to combat violence – both at the national and international levels.
