The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikolay Berievski, met with the UNICEF Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, Ms Regina De Dominicis, during her working visit to Bulgaria on 22–23 January.
During the meeting, prospects for future cooperation between Bulgaria and UNICEF post-2027 were discussed, as the current Cooperation Programme with UNICEF, approved by the Bulgarian government, is set to expire at that time.
Deputy Minister Berievski underscored the high priority Bulgaria places on the protection and promotion of children's rights.

Bulgaria Supports the Implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Plan for Gaza
Bulgaria welcomes the announcement of the start of the second phase of the Comprehensive Plan to End the Conflict in Gaza, proposed by President Donald Trump and endorsed by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803. The establishment of the Peace Council and the Executive Council, as well as the appointment of a National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, composed of Palestinian technocrats, represent important steps towards the stabilisation and reconstruction of the region.

Bulgaria Records New Lowest Rate of U.S. Visa Refusals
Bulgaria has recorded a new historic low in the refusal rate for U.S. tourist and business visas during the United States’ 2025 fiscal year. This is shown by the official data published today by the U.S. Department of State. The achieved refusal rate of 5.11 per cent, the lowest recorded for our country in nearly two decades, follows a record decline in the previous fiscal year and clearly demonstrates Bulgaria’s steady and tangible progress in meeting this key criterion for inclusion in the United States Visa Waiver Program.
