Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev meets OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann

Prime Minister Glavchev: Bulgaria’s accession to the OECD is a top foreign policy priority

Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Dimitar Glavchev leaves today for Paris, where he will participate in the Ministerial Meeting of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Prime Minister Glavchev will deliver a speech in the first plenary session, which will discuss the achievement of a sustainable, inclusive economy and society, as well as evidence-based policy-making on common challenges.

Bulgaria is expected to join the OECD by the end of 2025
For the first time Bulgaria has a specific deadline for joining the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). This is what Prime Minister Glavchev told journalists after his meeting with OECD Secretary General Matthias Korman. From the conversation of Prime Minister Glavchev with Secretary General Korman it became clear that the horizon for our country's accession is the end of next year 2025. A total of 31 reports of the OECD committees on Bulgaria have been adopted, with 26 more to go.

Informal meeting of the EU General Affairs Council
Ambassador Rumen Alexandrov, Bulgaria’s Permanent Representative to the EU, took part in the informal meeting of the General Affairs Council, organised by the Belgian Presidency of the EU in Brussels on 30 April 2024. 20 years after the EU’s big enlargement on 1 May 2024, the EU Member States and the current EU candidate countries (the six Western Balkan countries, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia and Turkey) met in Brussels. Prime Minister Glavchev: Bulgaria remains consistent in its support for Ukraine
Bulgaria remains consistent and will continue to express its full support for the people of Ukraine, its independence and will actively participate in the process of its reconstruction. This is what Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said at a meeting with Ukraine’s Ambassador Olesya Ilashchuk and Germany’s Ambassador Irene Maria Plank. The prime minister received an invitation to participate in the Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine, which will be held in early June this year in Berlin.
