The decision of the Canadian government is a logical result of the improved image of Bulgaria

23 April 2015 News

Easing the visa regime for Bulgarian citizens, which the Canadian government will introduce from 2016, is a logical result of the improved image of Bulgaria in international politics and serves as an affirmation of the skills and professionalism of the Bulgarian diplomats, said Minister Daniel Mitov. He commented on the latest decision of the Canadian government under which from March 15, 2016 Bulgarian citizens who have had a Canadian visa in the past 10 years or non-immigrant visa for the United States will be exempted from applying for authorization to travel to Canada. They will only have to register with Canada’s Electronic Travel Authorization system (eTA).

This success comes as a result of the consistent efforts of the Bulgarian government in the implementation of one of the objectives set out in the Governance program - building a sustainable bilateral political dialogue with Canada and reaching a decision on the visa issue for Bulgarian citizens. The decision of the Canadian government is a natural act, which reaffirms my confidence that Bulgarian citizens deserve fair visa treatment and administrative service.
