Foreign Minister held talks with the Ambassador of Croatia

Minister Daniel Mitov met today with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Croatia to Bulgaria Ljerka Alajbeg. Among the topics of conversation were the bilateral dialogue, topical issues of the European and international agenda, as well as regional cooperation.

Western European countries gave a clear sign that it is possible to overcome the historical hardships and to achieve unity based on common values ​​and standards. It depends on us - the countries of our region - to do the same in the name of prosperity of our citizens, said Minister Mitov.

Foreign Minister and Ambassador Alajbeg shared the view that Bulgaria and Croatia have excellent political relations and the upcoming bilateral visits at high and highest level are an affirmation of this. The two countries have developed good cooperation in various formats and regional initiatives.

The two diplomats expressed their readiness to work for the intensification and expansion of Bulgarian-Croatian relations in the sphere of economy, tourism, transport, where is still untapped potential. Minister Mitov and Ambassador Alajbeg shared the view that both Bulgaria and Croatia can become attractive destinations for overseas tourists.

Among the topics of conversation was the EU cooperation in the field of energy and the creation of a European Energy Union. Minister Mitov and Ambassador Alajbeg discussed the results of the Energy Summit of representatives of Central and Eastern European countries, which was held in February in Sofia. Croatia will host the next meeting in this format.
