Meeting of Deputy Minister Radi Naydenov with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine Olesya Ilashchuk

On 28 April 2026, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between Deputy Minister Radi Naydenov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine, Olesya Ilashchuk.

The discussions placed emphasis on the excellent bilateral relations, founded on the strong historical and cultural ties between the two nations, as well as on shared European values and strategic priorities. Both sides continue to work actively towards deepening political dialogue and cooperation across various fields. Strong mutual satisfaction was expressed with the recent high-level visit to Kyiv by the Bulgarian governmental delegation, led by Prime Minister Mr Andrey Gyurov, and with the results achieved.

The interlocutors also discussed the upcoming International Conference on Corridor VIII, scheduled to take place on 8 May 2026 in Nessebar, along with the planned high-level participation from the Ukrainian side. In addition, Deputy Minister Radi Naydenov emphasised Bulgaria’s consistent and unwavering support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognised borders. For her part, Ambassador Ilashchuk expressed deep appreciation for Bulgaria’s comprehensive support at all levels since the beginning of Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine.

Both sides gave a highly positive assessment of the level of bilateral relations and committed to further strengthening cooperation in mutually beneficial areas, including in support of Ukraine’s preparation for accession to the European Union.
