During the visit of the Bulgarian delegation to Kyiv, led by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, Andrey Gyurov, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha invited Minister Nadezhda Neynski to examine archival documents related to the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Ukraine. Among them was also the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk of February 9, 1918, in which Russia declared to Bulgaria, Germany, Austria-Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire that it had lost the First World War.
As a sign of respect and an expression of the historical continuity in relations between the two countries, Ukraine’s top diplomat presented Minister Neynski with a copy of the letter of credence of the first Bulgarian ambassador to Ukraine, Dr. Ivan Shishmanov, signed by Ferdinand I.
