On 25 March 2026, Minister Nadezhda Neynsky held a meeting with His Excellency Arthur den Hartog, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Bulgaria.
Topical issues of bilateral relations were discussed. The common will to deepen the partnership was expressed through an enhanced strategic dialogue between the two countries' foreign ministries to build on cooperation on current issues on the European agenda and continue efforts to address common challenges.
The interlocutors focused on priority topics on the international agenda - assistance to Ukraine, strengthening security on NATO's Eastern flank. The key role of the Black Sea region in the common European stability was emphasized.
The contribution of the Dutch side to Bulgaria's efforts to protect and strengthen the EU's external border, which is a confirmation of the common will to modernize defence capabilities and ensure peace and security in Europe through solidarity and shared responsibility, was also highlighted.
The two emphasized the importance of cyber security and the fight against disinformation. The long-standing cooperation between the Netherlands Academy of International Relations "Clingendael" and the Diplomatic Institute under the Minister of Foreign Affairs was highly appreciated, including the ongoing joint training seminar for civil servants on capacity building and inter-institutional coordination in the field of countering foreign information manipulation and interference.
