Participation of Deputy Minister Elena Shekerletova in the Informal Meeting of Ministers for European Affairs of the EU Member States

Deputy Minister Elena Shekerletova took part in the informal meeting of Ministers for European Affairs of the EU Member States, held today in Lviv, Ukraine, within the framework of the ongoing Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The meeting was devoted to progress achieved and the next steps in Ukraine’s accession process to the European Union. The ministers discussed the results attained to date, progress in reforms, and priorities for the country’s further integration. The forum aimed to underscore the EU’s firm commitment to Ukraine’s European future.
In her address, Deputy Minister Elena Shekerletova reaffirmed Bulgaria’s strong support for Ukraine’s European integration, in line with the principle of own merits and the established procedures and methodology. She welcomed Ukraine’s firm political commitment to the implementation of key EU-related reforms, as well as the significant progress achieved to date despite the exceptionally challenging circumstances. She highly appreciated Ukraine’s constructive and transparent approach in the development of the Action Plan on National Minorities. Bulgaria welcomes the continuation of efforts by the state leadership and local authorities to ensure the protection of the rights of the Bulgarian national minority in Ukraine, including in the context of the implementation of the adopted Action Plan. Deputy Minister Shekerletova expressed the readiness of the Bulgarian side to support Ukraine with expert and technical assistance to advance key reforms related to EU accession.
As part of the meeting, Deputy Minister Elena Shekerletova also took part in a memorial ceremony in honour of the victims of the Russian military aggression against Ukraine.
