Position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
14 December 2025 News
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns the terrorist attack against the participants in the celebration of the first day of the Jewish holiday Hanukkah in Sidney.
This brutal crime, motivated by hatred, took the lives of 12 people and many others were injured. We extend sincere condolences to the relatives and the close ones of the victims and express hope for the quick and full recovery of the injured.
The religious intolerance and extremism, as well as the expressions of ethnic hatred, are in contradiction with the fundamental values and principles of humanity.
We call for resistance to all acts of hate speech and hate crime, including those motivated by antisemitism.
This consecutive tragic act of antisemitism reminds about the need to preserve the memory of the Holocaust and its lessons, in order to avoid the repetition of similar crimes against the humanity in the future.
