The Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev Took Part in the Informal Videoconference of EU Foreign Ministers

26 November 2025 News

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Georg Georgiev, took part in the informal videoconference of EU Foreign Ministers held on 26 November 2025, dedicated to Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine. At the start of the meeting, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha reported on the progress of the negotiations on the US peace plan, outlined the next steps and thanked the EU and the Member States for their support.

The Ministers discussed recent developments, the support for the United States’ efforts, as well as the role and interests of the EU in achieving a lasting, just and comprehensive peace in Ukraine. They also addressed possible tools and measures to assist Ukraine, and the continuation of sanctions pressure on Russia.

Minister Georgiev emphasised that any decisions to achieve peace in Ukraine must rest on the fundamental principles of the UN Charter – sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity. He expressed high appreciation for the efforts of the United States in this regard. At the same time, he stressed that to reach lasting solutions, both Ukraine and the EU Member States must participate and give their consent where issues directly concern them, in the spirit of transatlantic cooperation. Concurrently, overall support for Ukraine and pressure on Russia must continue.
