Bilateral Political Consultations Between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Federal Republic of Germany

Today, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Georg Georgiev met with the Minister of State for European Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr Gunther Krichbaum, who was in Sofia to hold bilateral political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries.
During their conversation, and subsequently at the consultations between the two delegations, hosted on the Bulgarian side by Deputy Minister Elena Shekerletova, current issues on the European agenda were discussed, including the next EU Multiannual Financial Framework, the future of Europe, the EU enlargement process, and the Union’s strategic approach to the Black Sea region, among others.
Both sides reaffirmed their mutual desire to continue maintaining an active political dialogue and to deepen cooperation and economic ties in key sectors such as the defence industry, infrastructure projects, energy, innovation and high technology. Germany is an important strategic partner of Bulgaria, with which our country enjoys long-standing relations of trust and friendship.
