Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev Meets With the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway to Bulgaria, Ms Hilde Lunde

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Georg Georgiev, received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway to the Republic of Bulgaria, Ms Hilde Lunde. The purpose of the meeting was the forthcoming signing of the Memoranda of Understanding on the implementation of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism and the European Economic Area (EEA) Financial Mechanism, which provide a solid basis for deepening bilateral cooperation through the financing of projects in areas such as the green transition, democracy, the rule of law, human rights, social inclusion and sustainability.
During the conversation, the two sides also discussed issues related to security in Eastern Europe and the Black Sea region. Priority areas were outlined, including the modernisation and strategic strengthening of military capacities, as well as the active implementation of infrastructure projects aimed at achieving critical energy connectivity and diversification.
The Foreign Minister also underlined the need to reinforce direct cooperation between Bulgarian and Norwegian institutions as the most effective means of resolving cases related to the protection of the rights of children of Bulgarian citizens residing in Norway. It was emphasised that, on the basis of sound bilateral institutional cooperation, Bulgaria will continue to seek transparency and coordination on all cases in defence of the interests of Bulgarian citizens and their children.
