Meeting of Minister Georg Georgiev with the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Bulgaria

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Abdulrahman Aljaber. The two reaffirmed the excellent bilateral relations and discussed the possibilities for their further development on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Partnership signed in 2022. Minister Georgiev emphasized that Bulgaria views the United Arab Emirates as one of its most promising partners in the Middle East region.
During the meeting, the second round of political consultations between the two countries’ foreign ministries was discussed, as well as the preparation of the first meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Technical Cooperation. The two sides expressed their readiness to work towards strengthening the partnership in the areas of trade, investment, transport, defence, energy, innovation, culture and agriculture.
Minister Georgiev praised highly the role of the United Arab Emirates as a stabilizing factor in the Middle East region and reaffirmed Bulgaria’s support for deepening strategic cooperation between the EU and the Gulf Cooperation Council.
