Within the framework of the Munich Security Conference Leaders Meeting held in AlUla, Saudi Arabia, Minister Georg Georgiev met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Dr. Ayman Al-Safadi.
The meeting reaffirmed the active political dialogue between the two countries. Minister Georgiev expressed his gratitude to his Jordanian counterpart for the assistance provided by Jordan in the evacuation of two Bulgarian citizens and an elderly Palestinian national from the Gaza Strip on 29 September this year.
“Bulgaria highly values the open and constructive exchange with Jordan and stands ready to work together towards even stronger and mutually beneficial cooperation,” underlined Minister Georgiev. In this context, the Foreign Ministers of Bulgaria and Jordan discussed opportunities to deepen bilateral relations in the fields of economy, trade, defence and security. “Bulgaria welcomes the opportunity to organise a business forum in Amman to strengthen contacts between the business communities of Bulgaria and Jordan and to stimulate trade flows between the two countries,” stated the Bulgarian Foreign Minister.
Minister Georgiev and Dr. Al-Safadi also discussed the latest developments in the Middle East. “Jordan is a key guarantor of stability in the region, and Bulgaria supports its efforts for peace and security,” stated Bulgaria’s top diplomat.
For his part, Dr. Ayman Al-Safadi extended an invitation to his Bulgarian counterpart to pay a bilateral visit to Jordan later this year and expressed satisfaction with the positive dynamics in bilateral relations: “Jordan values its friendship with Bulgaria and stands ready to deepen our cooperation in all areas that contribute to the stability and prosperity of our peoples,” emphasised Deputy Prime Minister Al-Safadi.
