Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Georg Georgiev Presents Certificates to the 2025 “Dr Georgi Valkovich” Trainee Attachés Class upon Completion of the XIX Diplomatic Training Course of the Diplomatic Institute

30 July 2025 News

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Georg Georgiev, presented certificates to the trainee attachés of the 2025 graduating class “Dr Georgi Valkovich”, who successfully completed the XIX Diplomatic Training Course organised by the Diplomatic Institute.

At an official ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Georgiev congratulated the young Bulgarian diplomats on the efforts they had made during the training process. He emphasised that a diplomatic career requires not only knowledge and experience but also dedication, resilience, and a strong commitment to the national interest.

The Minister noted that the trainee attachés had already achieved a great deal, yet their real work in the diplomatic service was only just beginning. He underlined that the most important task of Bulgarian diplomats is to defend the interests of the country—both at home and abroad—a mission that the Bulgarian diplomatic service has fulfilled for 146 years since its establishment. In conclusion, Minister Georgiev extended his best wishes for future professional success to the young colleagues.

On behalf of the Diplomatic Institute, Ms Tanya Mihaylova, Director of the Institute, highlighted the importance of trust and teamwork in the diplomatic profession. She pointed out that over the past months, the course participants had demonstrated a high level of professionalism, commitment, and collegiality – qualities that are at the core of every successful diplomatic mission.

The ceremony was also attended by Mr Nikolay Pavlov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ivan Kondov, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as directors of departments, ambassadors, advisers, experts, and representatives of the specialised administration.

The training course will continue with a newly introduced practical phase—a one-month internship at Bulgarian diplomatic missions abroad, where the trainee attachés will have the opportunity to enhance their professional skills and competencies through practical experience.

In conclusion, it was noted that the trainee attachés of the “Dr Georgi Valkovich” class are distinguished by qualities characteristic of their patron—strong motivation, analytical thinking, and team spirit, which will serve as a solid foundation for upholding Bulgaria’s interests on the international stage.
