16 July 2025 News
Today, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Georg Georgiev received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia, Mr Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, who is visiting Bulgaria on the occasion of the ninth session of the Bulgarian–Armenian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation (16–18 July 2025, Sofia), in which he serves as the Armenian co-chair. The meeting was also attended by First Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia Mr Gevorg Mantashyan and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Mr Vahan Kostanyan.
Both sides gave high praise to the friendly relations between Bulgaria and Armenia, rooted in long-standing historical and cultural ties, as well as shared values. The meeting focused on the positive outlook for bilateral cooperation, including within the framework of the increasingly successful EU–Armenia dialogue in recent years. Views were also exchanged on current issues on the international agenda. Mutual satisfaction was expressed with the successful political consultations held on 15 July this year in Sofia between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs at deputy ministerial level, as well as with the session of the intergovernmental commission. Priority goals were once again highlighted: intensification of economic cooperation, expansion of trade exchange, and the development of connectivity – in transport, energy, digital infrastructure, and people-to-people contacts.
Minister Hayrapetyan outlined Armenia’s progress in the field of high-tech industry and affirmed the country’s desire and readiness to accelerate cooperation with Bulgaria in this area.
Minister Georgiev noted that Armenia is an important partner in the wider Black Sea region. He emphasised that the achievement of a more secure and stable regional environment depends in part on greater resilience and enhanced connectivity between Europe and Asia in all its dimensions. The Bulgarian side reaffirmed its support and readiness to share experience and expertise in support of Armenia’s rapprochement with the European Union.
