Political Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria and Azerbaijan

On 30 June 2025, political consultations were held in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan, between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Bulgarian delegation was led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs Elena Shekerletova, while the Azerbaijani side was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Mr Fariz Rzayev.
As a testament to the excellent bilateral relations, Deputy Minister Shekerletova was received and held meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Mr Jeyhun Bayramov, as well as with the Advisor to the President of Azerbaijan on Foreign Policy Affairs, Mr Hikmet Hajiyev
The political consultations and the meetings reaffirmed the positive dynamics of the bilateral political dialogue, which has reached the level of a strategic partnership. A review was conducted of the current state of bilateral political relations, as well as cooperation in the areas of trade and economy, energy, transport and logistics, tourism, culture, education, and multilateral cooperation. Shared strategic interests were outlined with regard to cooperation in energy, transport, and digital connectivity.
The two sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest, including regional and international security, the situation arising from the ongoing Russian military aggression against Ukraine, and the escalation of tensions between Israel and Iran, along with their regional and global implications. The Bulgarian side expressed its gratitude for the support provided in the process of evacuating the staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Tehran, as well as for the opportunity to continue its operations from the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
