Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Marin Raykov met with the head of the OSCE mission monitoringthe parliamentary elections

"The main goalof the government is the holding offree, fair and democratic elections," Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Marin Raykovsaid at the meeting. He explainedthe series of practical measures that the Bulgarian authorities are takingto ensure a free and democratic election process, consistent with the Election Code and the best European and international practice. "We have initiated a  Civic Election Board, which is working successfully, and in which there is broad participation, fromrepresentativesof NGOs, renowned experts and specialists, as well as the institutions themselves. This is a useful platform for dialogue and accountability. There will berotation ofInterior Ministry staff on election day to ensure impartiality in the performance of their duties,”Marin Raykovsaid. He expressed gratitude for the OSCE's decision to respond positively to the Bulgarian request for the deployment of an observer mission. "We are delighted that all the invited international organizations responded and sent observers, which is a further step in ensuring fairness and transparency of the electoral process," the Bulgarian Prime Ministersaid.

The head of the OSCE monitoring mission, Miklós Haraszti, expressed thanksfor the good co-operation with the Bulgarian authorities in the preparation and implementation of the mission. He emphasisedthat it is standard and helps build confidence in the electoral process and democratic procedures.
