24 November 2021 News

Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Svetlan Stoev received the Ambassador of Ukraine Vitaly Moskalenko. In the course of the talks, the Bulgarian side reaffirmed Bulgaria's unwavering and consistent support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders, including its territorial waters. The annexation of Crimea is in violation of international law. For Bulgaria, including as a country in the Black Sea region, it is very important that the situation with Crimea and the conflict in eastern Ukraine be resolved through negotiations in the established international formats.

Minister Stoev expressed confidence that the misunderstandings of recent days will not affect the excellent friendly relations between Bulgaria and Ukraine.

The Ambassador of Ukraine, for his part, stressed that consistent Bulgarian support for Ukraine is of great importance for his country. He expressed his condolences over the tragic incidents in the fire in the village of Royak and the bus crash from the Republic of Northern Macedonia on the Struma highway.

Minister Stoev thanked for the expressed sympathy and expressed hope that his Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Kuleba will have the opportunity to visit Bulgaria next year, for which he has been invited.
