Deputy Foreign Minister Zaritsa Dinkova took part in an official signing ceremony of a twinning agreement between the cities of Burgas and Ulsan, South Korea. The event took place in the building of the Municipality of Burgas, where the mayors Dimitar Nikolov and Song Chul Ho signed the document.
"The Republic of Korea is a priority partner of special importance for Bulgaria. Our desire is to strengthen political dialogue, expand economic ties and intensify cultural and educational exchanges, as well as sectoral cooperation", Zaritsa Dinkova said.
She stressed that relations between local authorities are an important element in bilateral relations, and expressed confidence that the twinning between Burgas and Ulsan will give additional impetus to the development of Bulgarian-Korean relations.
"The goal is to deepen our relations in the field of economy, education, cultural exchange. For the central government, whose main task is to provide a common framework for a better business climate and better opportunities for the realization of economic relations, there should be nothing better and nothing more successful than making things happen from the bottom up", Deputy Minister Dinkova said, and wished successful and fruitful cooperation between the two municipal administrations.
Ulsan is the seventh largest city in South Korea and a leading industrial centre. The city is famous for its developed automotive and shipbuilding industries. Like Burgas, Ulsan is a seaport city, and in the last 10 years the connections between them have intensified. Future cooperation between the two cities will include specific economic, cultural and other projects.
