The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vasiliy Takev received copies of the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia Tai Chun. During the meeting, bilateral relations were discussed, as well as cooperation in the context of the EU-ASEAN Strategic Partnership and in the framework of the dialogue and cooperation of the Asia-Europe Forum (ASEM).
The Bulgarian side welcomes the decision of the Cambodian government to reopen its embassy in Sofia after a break of more than 20 years. We attach importance to the relations of traditional friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between Bulgaria and Cambodia for more than 60 years. The desire of the Bulgarian side to deepen and intensify the dialogue with Cambodia in areas of mutual interest such as education, culture, tourism and trade, was also expressed.
Ambassador Chun thanked and assured that the Kingdom of Cambodia has a great interest in upgrading the already existing traditional friendly cooperation with Bulgaria. They expressed readiness to hold political consultations at the level of foreign ministries, as well as to renew a number of bilateral agreements.
Deputy Minister Takev wished Cambodia success in hosting the upcoming 13th ASEM Summit to be held on November 25-26, 2021, and assured Ambassador Chun of the Foreign Ministry's support for the further development of bilateral relations.
