Minister Svetlan Stoev received the Ambassador of Republic of Korea Li Ho-shik

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Svetlan Stoev received the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Li Ho-shik, with whom they discussed the excellent bilateral relations and the cooperation between the two countries in various areas of mutual interest.

Our Foreign Minister stressed that Bulgaria is ready to establish a strategic partnership with Republic of Korea, which is in line with the level of relations between the Republic of Korea and the EU.

„ Republic of Korea is our close partner. The development of our bilateral relations is a strategic priority for us," said Minister Stoev. He pointed out that over the years the two countries have built excellent relations both at the bilateral level and as partners in multilateral forums.

Among the highlights during the conversation were the opportunities for strengthening the political dialogue, including at the level of foreign ministries, as well as the mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of trade and economic relations with Republic of Korea.

Trade and investment are key aspects of our economic relations with Seoul. The trade exchange between Bulgaria and the Republic of Korea for 2020 is worth 252.9 million dollars, and our exports amount to 98.5 million dollars. Bulgaria is ready to work to intensify economic cooperation in order to use the existing potential.

Among the topics discussed was the forthcoming UN Peacekeeping Conference in December 2021, which will be hosted by Republic of Korea.

Minister Stoev wished success to Ambassador Li Ho-shik and assured him that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Bulgaria is ready to assist in the development of relations in all areas and issues of common interest.
