Bulgaria and Argentina are committed to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest

"Argentina occupies an important place in the foreign policy of Bulgaria in South America and has always been one of our main partners in the region. Our relations are characterized by friendship and mutual understanding," said Minister Daniel Mitov during the meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Argentina to Bulgaria H.E. Alberto Trueba. Minister Mitov and Ambassador Trueba discussed the bilateral relations and the possibilities for their strengthening, as well as the international cooperation.
"We are interested in the strengthening of the parliamentary cooperation between Bulgaria and Argentina. This will undoubtedly contribute to further activating the Bulgarian-Argentine relations in all areas of mutual interest,” pointed out Minister Mitov. For his part Ambassador Alberto Trueba emphasized that the excellent political relations between the countries are particularly important for Argentina. "Despite the geographical distance, for us Bulgaria has always been a close country. We will work to strengthen relations in the fields of tourism, agriculture, pharmaceuticals", he said. Minister Mitov and Ambassador Trueba also confirmed that the Fifth Session of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation is due to take place soon in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires.
They agreed that the intercultural relations and communications at the level of civil society and strengthening the ties through cooperation between local authorities, including twinning initiatives of Bulgarian and Argentinean cities and regions, are particularly important for the development of the contacts between Bulgaria and Argentina.
"We share the same values, we have the same concerns, and identical views on important international issues", said Ambassador Trueba. He thanked Bulgaria for the active support in the EU-Mercosur negotiations and emphasized on the good cooperation under the Antarctic Treaty.
The two diplomats discussed also a possible official visit of the President of Argentina Mauricio Macri to Bulgaria.
