Minister Daniel Mitov participates in the regular EU Foreign Affairs Council meting
19 January 2015 Diplomatic CalendarMinister Daniel Mitov will participate in the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting on 19 January in Brussels. The morning session will focus on EU-Russia relations and the development of the situation in Ukraine. The EU top diplomats will discuss also the fight against terrorism with the participation of EU Counter-Terrorism Coordinator, Gilles de Kerchove.
The EU Foreign ministers will hold a working lunch with the Arab League Secretary General, Nabil El Arabi. Among the topics of discussion will be the current state of the Middle East peace process, the situation in Syria and Iraq, and possible ways to enhance strategic dialogue with the League of Arab States on the fight against terrorism and organized crime, and on humanitarian aid.
The afternoon session will continue with discussion on Libya and ways to support the efforts of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General Leon for finding a political solution in the country. The Council's agenda includes also a discussion on climate change with the participation of EU Climate Action and Energy Commissioner Miguel Cañete.
